Gimnasio del Colegio Maravillas

by Alejandro De La Sota

Regarded as one of the most representative work of Spanish modern architecture, the building well integrates structural design, natural lightimg management and a complex functional program. A section would better explain the Gimnasio structure: a gym on the ground floor; theatre-style classrooms – located in the roof structure – are pushed back from the walls to provide a glazed portion which lights the gym floor below; the playground is placed on the top of the building, on the flat terrace.
