82 Viviendas en Carabanchel

by Amann-Cánovas-Maruri

Conceived as a courtyard building, this social housing project consists of a slab that is folded to obtain an enclosed space inside: each apartment has its own private patio, so the building is closed in on itself but at the same time it is open and perforated. The courtyard is a semi-public square, designed as a protected space to promote socialization among the dwellers. The grouping system of the dwelling units resembles an assemblage of metallic containers, color being used to produce differentiation and personalization. (EP)
